Maria Newport
Maria is an executive, leadership and team coach; coach mentor and supervisor; facilitator, mediator and organisational consultant with more than 20 years' international experience supporting organisations to navigate complexity, change and growth. She works with senior leaders globally across corporate, government, education and not-for-profit sectors, helping them strengthen leadership capability, improve team effectiveness and build healthy organisational cultures.
Maria also brings significant governance experience, having served as a non-executive director and committee member for several not-for-profit organisations including the International Coaching Federation Australasia, Coeliac NSW & ACT, Women Lawyers Association of NSW, Girl Guides NSW & ACT and Playgroup NSW. She is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Earlier in her career, Maria practised as a litigation lawyer with firms in Australia and the United Kingdom before moving into senior roles with global human capital consultancies in the USA and Australia. She holds a Master of Science in Human Resource Management (Organisational Psychology) from the University of London (Birkbeck) and is a Professional Certified Coach with the International Coaching Federation.
Maria is passionate about helping individuals and organisations perform at their best, particularly in the face of adversity. This passion is informed by her own experience of running a business while being treated for early-stage breast cancer, as well as supporting those who live and work with neurodivergence.
Outside of work, Maria prioritises wellbeing by spending time with family and friends, walking her therapy dog around Sydney Harbour, swimming in ocean pools, practising Pilates, travelling and enjoying Sydney's vibrant dining and entertainment scene.
